“Minimalism”, “Decluttering”,”Spark joy” , “do more with less” are some of the words that keep buzzing my head all day long for the last couple months. Some of the You Tube bloggers I follow are minimalists or promote minimalism. But it always seemed out of my reach. Whenever I watch a video or read an article about minimalism I would always think it’s not for me, how can I get rid of things , how can I live with less etc..
It all began a few months ago when we were expecting a guest at home and my husband was in charge of cleaning. He started cleaning at the last minute and got frustrated with the clutter all around ! And he started blaming me for the stuffs I was responsible. And I started blaming him for his 😁 .We sat down for a talk and decided that we would declutter and that was it. We have our own terms and conditions for decluttering.Yes of course “does this spark Joy?” is one among them. But this has been good so far , kind of inspiring, liberating.
Ok since then I have been a fan.I look for materials everywhere that can help me. The first thing I watched was this movie by The Minimalists! I mean , the movie is so inspiring and makes you believe that you don’t need that clutter in your life and a lot of stuff they say makes a lot of sense and how wonderful life can be with minimum stuff. It also tells you that there are no hardcore rules for this . You can set your own rules! I have 10 mins a day minimalism. That is , I goto a corner of the apartment it can be a coat closet, medicine cabinet, book shelf, study table etc and pick out things that doesn’t add value to my life anymore. So far this is going great. I want to continue this more seriously! And I am happy my husband has joined me in this! And I plan on writing more about this journey.Stay tuned!
